A Fall Wreath with Yarn & Feathers

Remember way back when I showed you guys some loot I got at Michaels on my FB?

I actually used most of it that very night...and am just now getting to show you one of those projects :)

I love how this turned out and love how easy it was.
Nothing crazy out of the ordinary but simple and perfectly fall!

And just a splash of what was the hit fad of the year- feathers.

Here's some of what I picked up on my shopping trip:

And no, not all of that was for my wreath :)

The only supplies I used were a wreath form, some feathery yarn and the feather pick you see in the picture.

Here's where I was a bad blogger and didn't take a picture of me wrapping the wreath.
Insert sheepish grin here.
I'm pretty sure I was watching Friday Night Lights while I was wrapping it so...yea...distraction.

But if you need some guidance I have several other yearn wreaths here, here and here.
This feathery yarn was way easy because it filled in the gaps a lot faster.
Thinner yarn takes a lot longer, let me tell ya.

After I wrapped the whole thing, I just stuck the feather pick in.
It was in really good so no glue needed.

And seriously, it was that easy.
I am in love with those yellow feathers.

Oh...so I lied just a little.
I DID end up adding a few covered buttons just for some more spice.
I covered two with linen and one with burlap.
I'm loving the fact that I can cover buttons with whatever fabric I want :)
Makes life so much more fun.

My little photo-shoot turned into an all out battle with the sun.
I ended up all over the yard trying to find a decent place to take pictures.
Oh, the things we do for blog posts :)

It's nice to know that when the feather hair trend wears out, feathers will still look good on your door!
(and guys, these feathers were wayyyy cheaper than my hair ones...)

So there it is... my little yarn feather wreath.
All ready to enjoy a pretty fall.
Now if Arkansas would just get on board with that.
No more ninety degree weather, kay? Thanks.

What do you think?
Are you in love with feathers?

I hope you guys are enjoying your week,
I'm sad that this is my last week of clinicals.
I'm not ready to return to the harsh world of OT school and am loving my kiddos way too much.
Friday is going to be hard :/

Happy mid-week guys!!

  2. I'm a sucker for an awesome wreath and boy howdy, this is one of them! I love the fluffy yarn and will totally have to try this because I have no patience creating with the regular yarn! Any short cut to get the gaps filled in is for me! The feathers are awesome and I love that it's a nod to a bird motif, but not overly so. Basically, I'm saying I'd steal it right off your door if we lived closer! ha!
Posted a WWWW party and would die if you've come over and link up!
