Spring Mantle Reveal!

I am in LOVE with having spring weather back!!

Although, Arkansas keep shifting back and forth between gorgeous warm weather and vicious cold bites.
But spring is definitely starting up around here
(I know this because my daffodils are just starting to poke out!!)

And I'm pretty sure you KNOW how much I love messing with my mantle.
So much so that I might just be showing you my second mantle soon...
yup. Second one.
I just couldn't stop with one. haha.

Since school likes to snow me under with crazy things like homework and clinicals,
I'm just not able to be one of those bloggers who changes their mantles up for every holiday.
I'll add touches here and there but I like to get my mantle just so... so I can't spend time every couple of weeks redoing it right now.

So after Christmas, it was in poor form.
I took all the Christmas decor down and just stared at it for a while.
Stared at this mess...

When deciding how to decorate my mantle, my process is usually to grab anything I THINK can work and put it up there.
Then I just start moving things around
Usually I come up with a few gaps that need to be filled and that's the fun part!!

Cuz I get to make new stuff :)

I loved my spring mantle from last year so I used a lot of the same elements but added in a few new items to keep it fresh.

Here's an example of a gap that needed to be filled.
I wanted something behind that silver frame so I grabbed a garage-sale mirror that I had on hand and stuck it up there.
Which got my creative juices flowing because once it was up there I suddenly had plans on what color it needed to be...

And here's where I ended up after filling in all the gaps and making a few new lovelies for my mantle:

I love, love having pops of yellow on it this year.
Which is why I was so happy to redo that mirror!!

I love doing lots of layers so having several frames and other pieces of art were the answer :)
Plus I got to add in one of my fav family pictures from earlier this year!

I used several things I had made last year for my mantle which was nice because I was able to focus on just creating a couple new things which I can't wait to share with you more in the next week!!!

Let's number it out, shall we?
That way I can give you an idea of where everything came from!!

1.  Redone Picture Frame from garage sale (& my fave wedding pic!)
2. Another redone frame with a cute print
3. A mini Fleur de Lis from Hobby Lobby
4. My mirror makeover project (tutorial later this week!!)
5. Rubbed silver frame on clearance at Michaels (with our new family pic!)
6. Random H (can't remember where it's from- I've had it forever!)
7. My Clock Project (tutorial later this week!!)
8. My favorite antique window from a local shop
9. Hallmark sign I've had FOREVER
11. Cute mini frame from Hobby Lobby
14. Dollar store Bird painted yellow
15. Gorgeous White vase from Hobby Lobby

So you can definitely see that I reused a lot of pieces from last year but I'm excited to show you more about the two new pieces I made!!!
You wouldn't believe how easy they were to make :)

Have you decorated your mantle for spring yet?

Don't forget to check back in this week for the 'how-to' on my mirror and clock art!!

If you like this project, I'd love for you to

  7. It looks so great! The layered look is my fav, too. I am still having the mantle problem--after Christmas I just had a blank walls staring at me. I have slowly filled it in a little bit, but it's still not perfect! Yours looks wonderful!
