Aqua & Tangerine Master Bedroom Redo

Ah! I'm so excited that it's finally time to show you my room reveal!!

I showed you an easy project I did with a mirror makeover on Friday for the room and now I'm finally ready to share the whole dealio!!

I had been wanting to get to our master bedroom for a while now because when we first moved in, we just slapped some paint on and it had become so dark to me in there lately!
So the priorities were:
To Brighten it up with the paint color
To Add some touches of fun color
And to keep it cheap with lots of DIY projects and using things we already had

And I'm so excited to say that all three of those things happened.
There were some snags along the way but no good project happens without a few mishaps, right?
Or is that just my mantra?

So anywho.
I'm not going to keep jabbering away.
I'll be sharing projects from the room all week so if you have any questions about things in the room then please leave it in the comments- I want to make sure to address anything and everything :)

Lots of pictures ahead so get ready :)

Room color: Sharkey Grey by Martha Stewart
Blue Furniture: Blue Ocean Breeze (Krylon)

When thinking about colors for the room, I was instantly drawn to my all-time favorite aqua color scheme but I wanted to mix it up a bit this time.
So I hit inspiration when Pantone announced the color of the year as Tangerine.
I was in love.
So it became Tangerine & aqua with touches of cream, white & brown.

I did a lot of re-using what we already had in the room just by changing up the colors!
Such an easy way to get a new look without having to spend a lot of money.

The only things I bought were the paint, a new duvet cover and fabric for the pillows & lamps.
Everything else was repurposed or found.
You'll never believe which piece in here was completely free and trashed before it ended up here!!

It took both me and hubby a bit of time to get used to the shock of color change.
I'll admit that I stared at that tangerine stenciled wall for a few days before actually deciding I liked it enough to keep it :)

After getting all the other pieces in place, I completely loved the wall.
The stencil is the Zamira Allover Stencil from CuttingEdge Stencils.
The same one I used for my family wall art.

I had to share my little secrets to organizing all my accessories!
I"m obsessed with necklaces so I keep them hanging on a men's tie rack from Bed, Bath & Beyond.
It's just mounted to the wall and is PERFECT for organizing the crazy amounts of bling I have.
The wooden block necklace is one little man made me :)

All my belts are kept on a repurposed peg rack I've had forever.
It's looking pretty in tangerine and new knobs now!

I can never take pics without my kitties getting involved.
But Simon matches the room so I let him pose :)

No makeover would be complete without some awesome before and after shots!!
Don't judge the mess :)

I'm still having a hard time believing it's the same room!!

And another:

Grand Total Cost:

Paint: 40$
Target Duvet Cover: 80$
Fabric: 18$
Total: 138$

Can you believe it???
What do you think of the transformation??

I'd love love love to hear your thoughts :)

Remember, all week I'll be sharing projects from the room so be sure to leave questions in the comments so I can answer them too!!

Hope you guys are having a great Monday-
 we're off to Tball practice!!

  8. The wall color alone makes a huge difference in the whole feel of the room, but I love everything you've done. A little bit of paint is an great (and inexpensive) way to transform an entire room without being committed to it for life. You did a fabulous job!!
