Hi there Tattered & Inked readers!
I love hanging out over here and was excited when Kelsey invited me back.
My name is Kara and I am mommy to a sassy diva 4 year old and wife to my high school sweetheart. I share crafts, recipes, frugal decor, printables, mommy adventures, teaching ideas, and all things DIY on my blog, Mine for the Making.
Today I am going to share a frugal decor project that I did quite a while ago, but am still in ♥ with.
Drab to Fab Bookends
{tutorial}
I found these 3 lil guys at the dollar store, but I wasn't diggin' the color. So what did I do?
That's right...spray painted them.
I spray painted the 'bookends' Aqua (Satin) by Rust-oleum.
I used sand paper to antique them and, using a paper towel, I rubbed dark brown Stencil Magic Paintcreme (recommended by a really crafty friend) on some of the "roughed up" areas.
I finished them off with clear coat of Krylon.
Here they are!
I use them as bookends on my bookshelf (that I love even though it was not the most expensive, lavish piece of furniture...it serves the purpose).
Total cost: under $4
(I had the paint, sandpaper, and stencil creme on hand.)
What do you think? Do you need some new bookends in your life?
Thanks for having me today!
A few places you can connect with me...
