DIY Distressed Flag

We are back!!
We spent a wonderful week at Orange Beach last week just enjoying soaking up the sun, splashing in the waves and eating yummy food.
The kids had a blast & we were so not ready to leave.

But back we are :)
And Arkansas is granting us some gorgeous, eighty-degree weather which is unheard of.
Me & the hubs took full advantage of it by cleaning out the garage (a HUGE task) and then tackling some of the fun pieces that have been in there for a while.

I can't wait to share some of the before & afters that are coming up but I figured I would share a last-minute Fourth of July project first.
Since it's coming up and all...

Remember my Fourth of July mantel decor
One of the pieces I used was a little wooden distressed flag.

And it was super easy to make... and a fun piece to bring a little patriotism into your home.

It started with just a simple piece of wood that I painted a glossy red.
Tape off your stripes and add the white next.
I loved having it all red to begin with so when it was distressed, the red would show through.

Tape off your blue square last and let it dry.
Then I used the eraser end of the pencil to dip in white paint and add the stars.

It was such an easy project and I love the splash of red, white & blue it brings.
Makes me happy :)

Have you been adding red, white & blue to your house in preparation for the Fourth?

Hope you guys have a great week!
I'm enjoying the last week hubby has off before returning to school :)
