Blue, Pink & Gold First Birthday Party

Hello sweet friends!!
I hope you guys all had an amazing weekend and Labor Day.
We enjoyed a lot of family time since there are all kinds of birthdays around this time of year.

Since I've been in the birthday frame of mind, I figured I might share one of our recent parties for baby M!!
Can you believe she just turned ONE?!

I still can't believe that our Baby M is already a whole year old!
It's absolute craziness that time has flown by so fast.

We celebrated her first birthday a couple weeks ago during the lovely heat-fest of an Arkansas August.
I wanted something simple, sweet, a little vintage & fun for our baby girl.

I landed on a 'bows & bling' theme for her birthday since it's been all about Baby M's bows from the day she was born- we've been so in love with all her gorgeous hair & mama sure has fun dressing it up :)
I created some fun invitations with the 'bows & bling' wording on it to get things started...

We went ahead and went with the colors of her beautiful nursery- it's still our favorite room in the house!.

And those colors translated over beautifully for a party too.

I've collected quite the stock-pile of party basics that help so much with all the events throughout the year.
My biggest tip for a great party is to start building a party 'basics' bin with white tablecloths, basic utensils, and plates/napkins in various colors.
I pick up items in colors that I tend to use a lot when they are on sale or on clearance.

Stop up after holidays like Easter & Valentines- not all the utensils/napkins/plates will be holiday themed. Some will just be in fun colors with dots & stripes that are perfect for more parties.

For more information on where I got some of the items for the party, check out my vendor list at the bottom of the post!

For this table set-up, I went super simple and just used lots of layers!!
I layered gold dot wrapping paper with some cute hot pink dot wrapping paper for a quick table runner & it added so much fun color!

I love to use the items already in my home to help out with the decor so I filled up my planked photo hanger from my dining room reveal with baby pictures of baby M.

I haven't shared the transformation of my amazing utility cart yet but it's easily one of my most favorite party pieces.
It's perfect for holding drinks, napkins, favors, whatever.
And I use aqua in almost everything so it works nearly every time :)

Her beautiful cake actually came from Sams- of course she had to have a bow on it :)
I got the cute sparkly one  from Hobby Lobby and glued it onto a cakepop stick to make an easy topper.

My favorite piece of decor for the party were these amazing aqua drawers that I turned into picture hangers!
They were cast-offs from a recent project & were headed to the trash before I decided to try and do something fun with them.

I was all set for them to be a big painting fail but I love, love, love how they turned out!
I'll share the quick run-down on them soon because you won't believe how easy they are to put together.

They were definitely the star of the table set-up with their perfect distressed aqua goodness & the adorable month pictures of Baby M.

I kept her favors simple- some pretty taffy in a bag all jazzed up with some handmade printable toppers.
I'll be sharing party printables soon in another post so be on the lookout!!

A friend of mine is incredibly talented in making beautiful cookies so we ordered some 'ones' & 'bows' and they were gone in minutes!

Another fun & easy treat were dipped rice krispie bites!
They were super easy to make and turned out cuter than expected- love it when that happens :)

I made a rag garland for her highchair to jazz it up for cake pictures & used the same technique to make her a rag skirt to go with the shirt I embroidered for her :)

And, of course, no party is complete without some birthday bling- love her beautiful lace crown from LoveCrushBowtique

Baby M was a huge fan of cake- we did a smash cake before the party so I wouldn't stress about getting cute pictures & then gave her a slice at her party to dig into.
She definitely did not disappoint.

From all her sweet smiles, I'm going to take it that she loved her party.
It was so fun to put together- even if it did feel like it came way too soon!

I'll be posting soon with printable details & a couple of the DIY projects from the party!!
