Turquoise Hexagon End Table Redo

This week is finally start to shape up like spring.
Even though we just ended our spring break yesterday.
Get with it Arkansas.

We had a burst of cold weather Saturday and then beautiful weather yesterday.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up that this pretty weather will stick.
But I sure hope it does!!

I had to convince my kids that 65 degree weather did not, in fact, mean we could go swimming.
They insisted on putting on their swimsuits and dipping their feet in the kiddie pool anyways.
And, well,it was spring break.

I'm trying to get back into the groove of things with work starting back up this week...but they threw a curve ball at us and are adding 72 minutes onto our school days to make up for snow days. And that extra hour to the end of the day is a doozy.

But I figured I'd kick off this week with a gorgeous spring-y furniture transformation.

I did this piece last year and it was one I was intending on selling...and then I just loved it to much.
So we basically did a living room redecoration in order to make it work.
I love those kinds of projects :)

Here's the little cutie before it's makeover...

The two-toned colors leave a lot to be desired but it had amazing bones to work with!
I'm obsessed with these little hexagon/circle shaped tables and the details on the doors of this one are hardly visible in it's original shape.

Check out those door details now...

 I mean, come on.
There's not even a question as to how much better it looks with a beautiful coat of paint on!
The details on the doors completely pop now & it makes an outdated little number shoot right back in to modern & cute.

I believe I scored this end table at a yard side for around 5$. It sat in my garage forever before I finally decided to get inspired by it.

It had quite a few scratches and gouges around the edges of the table that were easily fixed up with a couple layers of wood putty.
I sanded the whole thing smooth and then painted several coats of an 'oops' paint I picked up at Lowes.

It's a flatter sheen than I usually try and use but still came out with a gorgeous color and finish.
I used Minwax finishing wax to seal it and make it feel oh so smooth.
Then the brass handles were given a coat of oil-rubbed bronze spraypaint to liven them up a bit.

This little table caused a big uproar in our back living room because once it was painted, I was too in love with it to sell it.
My sweet husband readily agreed to help me change a few things in order to be able to make it work in color scheme for the back living room.
Which involved painting several other pieces so the blue wouldn't clash.

So glad that he puts up with my craziness :)

It was the perfect addition to my favorite little reading nook area which got a makeover because of the little blue table.
You can get more details about the nook here

I absolutely love the bright turquoise paired with whites & pops of yellow!
It was definitely meant to live with us and I'm so glad we were able to make it work for our space!!

Check out the before & after transformation...definitely a 'blah' to 'glam' moment!!

I've said it a million times but it holds true again & again...

the power of paint is an amazing thing and it never ceases to amaze me how it can transform something that you would never glance at twice to one of your favorite pieces in your house!!

Now that painting weather is finally looming near, I can't wait to get some more projects going!

What do you think of my little turquoise table?
Have plans on redoing any pieces soon?

Glammed Up Dollar Store Bunny Ears!

So this was one of those projects that started out on a total whim.
Me and little man were hunting for faux succulents in our local Dollar Store and some cute sequined bunny ears caught my eye.

I didn't think much about them but thought they were adorable and could have some great potential so I threw them in the basket and kept going.
I actually scored a whole bunch of awesome things on my last shopping trip that I can't wait to share.

But guys...
when I actually sat down tonight and threw together this little 'on the whim' project, I couldn't believe how adorable they turned out!!!

Can you believe those are bunny ears from the Dollar Store?!?!

I'm seriously in cuteness overload with them.
But I think I perpetually stay that way with little miss around.
Everything is cute when it's tiny :)
And girly.
And with sequins & bows.

So these didn't have a chance.

So you're probably thinking that this project is cute and all...but you don't have a fancy schmancy embroidery machine to do a monogram.
Well mine isn't it fancy, but I do have one.

Butttt guys,
Hobby Lobby & Michaels have really upped their game with iron-on decals lately.
So grab up a couple of iron-on monograms and jazz your ears up in a couple of minutes!
Since they won't get dirty like clothes, you won't have to worry about washing them so if the iron doesn't seem up your alley, whip out that hot glue gun.
Glue on your monogram, add a cute little bow or other embellishments and you have the cutest pair of bunny ears ever seen in a matter of minutes.

Here's the run-down in a quick list:
1. Grab some bunny ears (I've seen them everywhere from the Dollar Store to Kroger to Hobby Lobby).
2. Use iron on decals to create a monogram or initial.
Either iron them on or hot glue them on.
3. Embellish with cute bows, flowers, etc.
I put a tiny dab of hot glue on the back of my bow so in case I want to take it off later.

I'm obsessed with my embroidery machine and most things aren't safe around the house when it comes to getting personalized!!

But how cute will your little bunny be in these come Easter Egg Hunting time??
And with a completion time in under five minutes, it's worth every minute!!

Are you needing some glammed up Bunny Ears in your life?

You can read more about the process their pieces undergo here

Being that we just added a sweet new addition to our family a few months ago, I was instantly drawn in by their "Mother" collection of pieces.
There were so many fun pieces to show off your children's initials or names!

I instantly fell in love with the beautiful Boy & Girl Mother's Necklace
Check out my gorgeous piece I received from Onecklace!!

I'm so in love with my new necklace and get so excited seeing all three of my kid's initials on the cute boy & girl charms!!

You can choose between silver and gold, personalize with your own names/initials and then choose from a variety of chains.

It was an absolute dream working with them and getting my necklace customized and ordered!!
In no time at all, I had a cute package arriving at my door all dolled up in a gold bag & beautiful gift box.

It's already become my new favorite piece to wear and I get so many compliments from it.
I love the daintiness of the charms & chain which makes it fun to wear on it's own or pair with a couple other necklaces.

The chain is very lightweight & dainty, so be sure to be careful around chunky little fingers that love to grab at shiny things!

My necklace has held up beautifully through the crazy amounts I've already worn it and I know that it is always going to be a special piece to have.

I love personalized pieces like these, because they can so easily become heirloom pieces that have so much meaning behind them.

They would be perfect for Mother's Day, a b-day or any other special time of the year.
And they go way beyond mother's necklaces if you're looking for something fun & trendy to wear for yourself!!
A couple other of my favorite pieces are the gold monogram ring, the beautiful initial bracelet, and the two circle love necklace

You have to head over and check them out...I know you'll fall in love with them as much as I have!!

Now onto the AMAZING part...in case you've already swung on over and fallen in love...

DIY Wooden Pennant Banner

I don't know about you guys but I'm am most definitely ready for springtime.
Warm weather, playing outside, green grass.
The works.

We are on our third week of state-stopping snowstorms and I'm the kind of girl who loves it to have a good snow...once. So we can have a day off school, play in the magical stuff and then get back to normal life.

So far, we've had six total days off school and we are slowly carving out our summer break with make-up days for school. Boo.

So I'm hoping that by creating a few Spring projects, Mother Nature may take the hint?
It's worth a try :)

I had a few pieces of scrap plywood lying around and thought it would be perfect for making a cute pennant banner to hang up outside.

Doesn't it just scream spring to you?

I was able to whip up this simple project during one of our 'warm' days here.
Gotta love Arkansas and the fact that it can be nearly seventy degrees one day and then below freezing with snow the next.

First things first, I cut out several triangles with my miter saw.
Then sand them down until they are completely smooth.

After sanding, I used a variety of blues to make a pretty light aqua and then painted stripes and polka dots with the aqua and some white acrylic paint.

Use painter's tape to tape off stripes and then a round foam pouncer for large polka dots.
I think it'd be cute with teeny polka dots too, using the back of a pencil!

After adding some patterns to your banner, I used a staple gun to attach my triangles to a scrap piece of twine.
And that's it!!

I hung mine on my huge chalkboard outside to bring a little color to it.
I'm still getting used to adding chalk art and not hating my own handwriting.
I'm learning to let go and just have fun with it!!

How's that for a super simple spring project??
You could whip this up in under an hour and have something colorful to brighten up your home!!

I love that it's a little different take on the traditional fabric pennant banner- definitely holds up a bit better outside!!

Hope you guys are staying warm- (and if you already have Spring weather, know that I'm extremely jealous!!).

Hope your week has been fabulous!!
